Ludlow Methodist Church Celebrates Twenty Years Since Refurbishment and Wesley's Café

Ludlow Methodist Church Celebrates

Ludlow Methodist Church has marked 20 years since the refurbishment of its Broad Street building. The project was a major undertaking that required vision, faith and significant funding. The whole church, including the worship area, meeting rooms, kitchen facilities and other spaces, was modernised while preserving the character of the original building.

It was also during this period that the hugely popular Wesley’s Café was established, with an ecumenical team of volunteers offering a warm welcome to local people and visitors alike, along with a place to enjoy a drink, a light lunch and friendly company. As part of the celebrations, Wesley’s prices were put back to what they would have been in 2006.

Celebratory events, started with worship led by Revd. Dr. Neil Richardson. Exhibitions of ‘Before and After’ memorabilia, ‘Look What We Made’, which featured church banners made by members, ‘Look What We Do’, which included testimonials from Wesley’s customers and groups that hire church facilities, and the church’s mission, ‘Look Who We Are’, featured floral displays and guided tours of the building. Members of the Ludlow congregation and the local community reviewed and reminisced about how far Ludlow Methodist Church has journeyed.

‘Chiefly Yourselves’, an evening of entertainment, showcased the wide range of talents of church members. The week culminated with Sunday Worship led by Chair of the District, Revd. Rachel Deigh, after which a bring and share lunch was enjoyed.

Local Preacher and Church Steward, Joyce Evans commented, “Our rooms are flexible and accessible, we warmly welcome everybody, and we are very proud of that. We are grateful to all those who worked so hard to make the vision a reality.”

As the renovations included updating the church’s technology, Ludlow Methodist Church is now streaming Sunday Worship each week on Zoom, at 10:30am. To join the Sunday Worship Service, please use the link here:  or copy and paste: https://zoom.us/j/9238264576?omn=96151771320
