As part of the 20th Anniversary celebrations at Ludlow Church, members and friends held a concert. 'Chiefly Yourselves' was compered by Circuit Property Steward Adrian Williams, who also performed his own unique contributions. There were songs from Pip Hollins, who also recited his composition about the food fads of the famous Albert (Marriot Edgar monologues). Roger Clayton, Vernon and Linda Webb (from Melville Church,) John Mountford and John Eadie (whilst wearing a pair of fetching red horns,) told of the delights of hell. Maureen Farmery read two of her compositions and Ethan Riley contributed piano compositions. The first half of the performance ended with community singing.
There were recitations and readings by Janet Williams, who had trouble with the bank, Brian Dawson, who had trouble with an ‘ole in the ark, and Joyce and David Evans, who had trouble remembering their first date. Edith Blair entertained with jokes, Peter Hayter, wearing a red fez, impersonated comedian Tommy Cooper and he and Amy Evans sang a duet. Stephen Dalton told the tale of Albert and the Lion. Several of the acts were accompanied by pianist Sylvia Treacy who also performed a solo.
The AV was operated by Mike Owens, and the refreshments were served by Annie Jones and Chris and Tony Plauden.
A good time was had by all, and the audience generously donated £243 to church funds.
Many thanks to all who took part or helped in any way.
