There was much cause for celebration at Knighton Methodist Chapel last Sunday. Those who gathered for a service of worship, led by Deacon Sara Windsor-Hides, celebrated a Confirmation and received new congregants into membership of the Methodist Church.

Neil King was Confirmed and his wife Diana and Jane Millward became members. Despite it being holiday season and some members being away, friends, several visitors from Ludlow Methodist and from Sherwood in Nottingham, made up for their absences. Knighton Chapel members Heather Mann and Mary Bayliss read scripture verses.

Following the service, Deacon Windsor Hides jokingly remarked, "It was a service of many parts, including solemnity and laughter. When I asked Neil to kneel, it felt like a part of a Two Ronnies sketch. The atmosphere was special. On arriving at the church, the accompanist said she felt the presence of saints, including those who for many years had been members at Knighton, and had now died and gone to glory."

The service was followed by refreshments and an opportunity to welcome the new members less formally. "Knighton is a very friendly, welcoming church and all are welcome to join us. We meet on Sunday mornings at 11am and the church has a car park so both local people and those from further afield can use their cars without worrying about parking." Deacon Windsor-Hides enthused.
