The Parables of Mark, Chapter 4 were the basis for a lively discussion at yesterday's Bible Study at Brockton Methodist Chapel. Led by Revd. George Heinz, the small, all-age group considered, for example, what type of seed they identified with in the Parable of the Sower; whether our crops are always fruitful or whether we produce varying amounts of crop at different times during our Christian journeys. Revd. Heinz also drew attention to the concept of the "Kingdom of God" as described in these passages. Questions such as whether the Kingdom of God is present, or is to come some time in the future, were also reflected upon. Members of the group agreed that some aspects of Jesus' words to his disciples in the Parables are particularly challenging as is how we, as today's disciples, interpret them for our own lives.
