About the Methodist Guild

Our meetings are held in the Church Lounge at Wem Methodist Church and are open to all. Normally, they are on the first Thursday of the month (except December and April) starting at 7.30pm unless stated otherwise.

There is no subscription, but members are asked to contribute £1 at each attendance, and a plate will be available at the door during each meeting.

Guild Prayer

Eternal Father:

Send Thy blessing upon us now
Express through us Thy love and power
Rebuke the unkind word and unkind silence
Vouchsafe to us Thy pardoning grace
Instruct us where we have gone wrong
Cleanse our hearts of pride
Enable us to see Him who is our peace

Be with us when all is dark around us
Equip us for our tasks, however hard they be
Free us from all that causes hurt to others
Order our lives by Thy will
Renew the vision of beauty in our hearts
Enlarge our horizons and make us more patient

Send us courage to proclaim fearlessly Thy truth
Eliminate all that makes us cynical and indifferent
Let us go forward with braver hearts and steadier nerves
For all assembled here the standard shall be:
