On 13th July Tenbury Methodist Church celebrated their 150th birthday. They welcomed back past ministers, members and friends who had moved away as well as current supporters and friends in the community. A display of photos and memories were the centre of conversation during the afternoon followed by a grand high tea before the celebration service. Rev Helen Roberts led a full church through the years with hymns from the different eras of the church’s life, then Rev Deanne Evans spoke on living out our faith through the fruit of the spirit. Local preacher Mr Adrian Williams continued the celebrations during the service the following day.
There have been a wide range of anniversary events over the year with more to come.

Lots of stalls
The Easter Market will take place at Wem on Saturday, 23rd March, starting at 10.00 a.m. As you know the Easter Market has a long and successful history in supporting both the District Children’s Holiday Fund and our own work with young people to fund events that the children may wish to be involved with. More recently, we have joined Andrew and Felicia Dutton at their farm for a camping weekend which has included fun, games and activities with a Bible theme, financed from our funds. We hope that we can once more rely on your support this year even though you may not have young people’s groups at your own chapel anymore. Could you have a stall, or run a game, or perhaps you know of someone who would like to run a craft stall at the Easter Market. We charge £5 a stall if you wish to keep your profits for your own good cause; otherwise we know that the proceeds from some of our stalls will be given to our good causes.
We have three competitions this year which we hope you will join in with – please note there is NO upper age range in the oldest group so we can “all be in it to win it”. The competitions are:
An Easter Card
Four Easter Cup Cakes
Easter Bonnets or Boots
The age ranges for each competition are:
Do come along and support us – it is so nice to meet up each year and if you can help by running a stall or a game, please ring me, Chris White, on 01952 541 504, otherwise I hope I can assume that you have blown the dust off your paints and crayons to make a card, or bought some new oven gloves to help in baking your cup cakes, or indeed are making plans even now to produce some artistic creations in Easter Bonnets or Boots (Wellies are welcome)! All the competitions will be judged at the Easter Market, but even if you cannot attend please send your entries along – you may win an Easter prize.
Please contact the North Area Circuit Office for more information.

Do you have a heart for prison ministry by supporting prisoners through prayer and volunteering within your community?
Or interested to know how your church can support those coming out of prison?
We would like to invite you to attend an open evening, as we share about the work of Prison Fellowship and Caring for Ex-Offenders and local prison ministry. It is an opportunity to consider what being involved in this area of ministry looks like, and to discuss the positive impact that the church can have on ex-offenders, and how you can get involved in supporting HMP Oakwood through prayer and volunteering.
Prison Fellowship is a volunteer-driven organisation, through our 1,700+ volunteer members; we have a mission to show Christ’s love to prisoners by coming alongside them, praying and supporting them to change.
Caring for Ex Offenders vision is to reduce reoffending by reintegrating ex-offenders into society through the local church. We equip churches, through training and advice, to enable them to support ex-offenders live transformed lives.
Space is limited: to confirm your interest in attending the event, or to find out more information, please contact Justin at: email@example.com or 07989 477 887
On Friday 1st February Bayston Hill Methodist Centre was rededicated in a special service attended by around 120 people. It was preceeded by a celebratory church tea for over 50 church members who thoroughly enjoyed their first visit to the newly refurbished premises and the good food that the comprehensively equipped new kitchen could produce.
The Rededication Service was led by our own Superintendent Minister, Rev Derrick Lander and Rev John Howard, the District Chairman. We were honoured to have as our guest speaker Rev Mark Wakelin, the President of Methodist Conference. The Service was a wonderful occasion where the building was officially handed over to the Church by the builders and rededicated and where the church congregation committed themselves to the future of Bayston Hill Methodist Church with their best use of the new premises.
The Service was a wonderful celebratory event with a full church, singing that raised the roof ( not literally thankfully!) and an inspiring sermon from Rev Mark Wakelin to challenge and encourage the Church as it goes forward in God’s service from this new beginning.
